Cultivating Patience: How you respond under pressure speaks volumes

Cultivating Patience: How you respond under pressure speaks volumes

“How You Respond Under Pressure Speaks Volumes”

“…So patience is most befitting” (Surah Yusuf, 12:18)

All praise is due to the One who has granted us the faculty of “choice”, including the ability to choose how we will react and respond in any given circumstance.

There will always be tests – in the form of people, setbacks and circumstances that test our ability to keep cool under pressure. However, know that it is only too easy to respond in kind to the insults of others, or to exclaim your misfortune at the onset of a calamity.

Far harder, and a true test of character and strength, is to employ the attribute of patience – seeking the pleasure and aid of your Lord.

~ Patience is what allows you to walk away when someone insults or hurts you – usually seeking a response.

~ Patience is what makes you patient with the idiosyncrasies of your spouse or friend.

~ Patience is what makes you satisfied with your circumstance – both the good and the bad, and call out to Allah alone for relief.

~ Patience is what makes you forbearing with regard to the trials of this life.

~ Patience is what allows you to aid in the spread of this beautiful religion, and bear any harm in that path.

~ Patience earns you peace. Peace of mind and heart, when others are slowly imploding due to their own impatience and dissatisfaction.

~ Patience earns you the reward of Allah, with Whom is the greatest reward.

“And the slaves of (Allah) Most Gracious are those who walk on the earth in humility, and when the ignorant address them, they say.. ‘Salam.” {Peace)”.
(AI-Furqan.. 63)

“O you who have believed, seek help through patience and prayer. Indeed, Allah is with the patient.”
(Al Baqarah …153)

“…So Patience is Most Befitting”.
(Yusuf…18)
