Morning Reflection: Allah Sends Down His Mercy Upon Us, Just as He Sends the Rain to Purify & Nourish the Earth.
Sister, I’m reflecting on the rain this morning…
Living in the desert, rain is a rare occurrence and it is a truly joyous occasions when Allah allows the rain to descend, out of His Mercy.
Rain benefits everything in creation: humans, animals, plants – but the descending of rain upon the earth, brings forth a simile in my mind.
Just as the rain descends as a mercy and refreshes the earth, Allah’s Rahmah (Mercy) descends upon the heart and life of the Believer in the same way. So often, we are living in a state of being spiritually parched, and at other times, we are valiantly enduring trials – searching, waiting and praying for some relief.
It’s coming, inshaAllah.
This wait can be one of days, weeks, or years – by the Wisdom and Decree of Allah. However, it is never in vain for the one who is patient.
Often, we undergo periods of deprivation – by Allah’s infinite wisdom, in order to mold us and to instill humbleness and gratitude. To allow us to see what we are truly made of- both the good and the bad. To make us of those who are thankful, when the ease finally comes.
Know that Allah always gives you exactly what you need (not want, but need)… even if it’s after a while.
Just as the parched earth and the barren desert is revived by His merciful rain, and all types of benefit are able
to spring forth. Allah – Subhanahu wa Ta’ala does that in our lives as well.
– All the times you cried and suffered hardship… He heard you.
– All the times you made an effort to be obedient – even though it was a struggle and you could have easily done otherwise… He saw.
– Every dua and plea for help you made…He is aware of every one.
– Everything that you’re struggling with, all the pain you try to hide… He knows it all.
And who is the best for aiding us and answering our pleas for help and guidance? He is Allah, your Lord and my Lord- Rabbil “Alameen!
He is the answerer of dua, so never despair.
In His infinite wisdom, some dua He answers in the dunya, and some are reserved for the aakirah. But know that your patience and striving to do good will never go unrewarded.
وَإِذَا سَأَلَكَ عِبَادِي عَنِّي فَإِنِّي قَرِيبٌ ۖ أُجِيبُ دَعْوَةَ الدَّاعِ إِذَا دَعَانِ ۖ فَلْيَسْتَجِيبُوا لِي وَلْيُؤْمِنُوا بِي لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْشُدُونَ
And when My slaves ask you (O Muhammad SAW) concerning Me, then (answer them), I am indeed near (to them by My Knowledge). I respond to the invocations of the supplicant when he calls on Me (without any mediator or intercessor). So let them obey Me and believe in Me, so that they may be led aright.
(Al-Baqarah 2:186)
The relief is coming inshaAllah.
وَهُوَ الَّذِي يُرْسِلُ الرِّيَاحَ بُشْرًا بَيْنَ يَدَيْ رَحْمَتِهِ ۖ حَتَّىٰ إِذَا أَقَلَّتْ سَحَابًا ثِقَالًا سُقْنَاهُ لِبَلَدٍ مَّيِّتٍ فَأَنزَلْنَا بِهِ الْمَاءَ فَأَخْرَجْنَا بِهِ مِن كُلِّ الثَّمَرَاتِ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ نُخْرِجُ الْمَوْتَىٰ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَذَكَّرُونَ
“And it is He Who sends the winds as heralds of glad tidings, going before His Mercy (rain). Till when they have carried a heavy-laden cloud, We drive it to a land that is dead, then We cause water (rain) to descend thereon. Then We produce every kind of fruit therewith. Similarly, We shall raise up the dead, so that you may remember or
take heed.”
(Al-A’raf 7:57)
Just as the rain descends and the earth is reborn… so too shall His mercy envelope you, if you are patient and steadfast, In shaa Allah.
